U. Dance Festival 2016 is to be held at The Lowry in Salford giving hundreds of young performers the chance to dance.

The annual event showcases the best in youth dance from across the country. The four-day festival, in July 2016, will give hundreds of young dancers the opportunity to perform to an audience on The Lowry’s stage and to work alongside nationally-renowned artists.

The Lowry has built a reputation as a regional hub for dance, consistently bringing performances from the most prominent UK-based and international artists to north west audiences, including Carlos Acosta, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, Wayne McGregor’s Random Dance and Akram Khan.

The Lowry is the north west home of partner companies Birmingham Royal Ballet and Rambert which regularly bring world premières and revivals to the Salford stage.

U. Dance aims to give every child and young person in England the opportunity each year to take part in a dance performance. Since the inception of U Dance, in 2008, more than 188,000 young people have performed at a U Dance registered event.
