The Mummy: going ahead in Coventry but the tour is postponed

Producers of a new stage comedy The Mummy have announced they are deferring a planned UK tour but will still open the show as planned at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre towards the end of March.

Paul Tyrer and Jamie Clark of The Booking Office said, “With huge regret, and in very difficult financial times, we’ve made the decision to defer the tour of The Mummy for the immediate future.

“This is an ambitious production with many elements, and it’s also the launch of a new brand in a time when the marketplace is largely dominated with established or subsidised brands.

“Our company are working on a sensational production and we’ll present the show with our associate production house, Coventry Belgrade, as planned, and with great pride. We’re sorry that very difficult circumstances mean we’re unable at this point to continue with our touring dates.”

The Mummy, based on Bram Stoker’s Jewel of the Seven Stars, was scheduled to tour to New Theatre Cardiff, Richmond Theatre, Brighton’s Theatre Royal, Poole Lighthouse, Darlington Civic, Malvern Theatre, Clywd Theatre, Churchill Theatre Bromley, the Waterside Theatre Aylesbury and Crewe Lyceum.

Jason Durr, Susie Amy and Denis Lill will appear in the production at Coventry’s Belgrade from Friday 21 March until Saturday 29 March.
