Porno Chic from Vertigo

One of Manchester’s most successful fringe theatre companies has announced upcoming shows for the winter season.

Award-winning writers and directors Craig Hepworth and Adele Stanhope, who also co-own Vertigo with Karl Burge, will bring their original play Porno Chic to the King’s Arms, Salford from Nov 25 to 29.

It tells the story of adult film actor Harry Reems (played by Richard Allen) who shot to fame thanks to his role in the ground-breaking film Deep Throat. Through Harry’s eyes, we are taken through the filming, release and the political fallout caused by the movie’s release.

Alongside Richard Allen, the play stars Hannah Ellis, Stuart Reeve, Ash Preston, Ciara Tansey, Andrew Marsden and Paul Worrall.

The production contains nudity, graphic language and scenes of a sexual nature so is not suitable for persons under 18.

Also this year, Vertigo will reopen its critically acclaimed Watching Goldfish Suffocate that played to sold-out audiences at Taurus Bar.

Written by David Degiorgio and Craig Hepworth and directed by Hepworth, the show tells the true story of writer Dave (who also stars as himself) as he experiences the worst year of his life due to mental illness that saw him go from rave reviews as an actor on the fringe scene to spending weeks in a mental health hospital as his world collapsed.
