“Internet sensation” Ryan Marten in Follow/Unfollow

Andrew Rimmer’s play Follow/Unfollow, which will have three outings at Buxton Fringe, explores themes of “integrity, fame and people being lost in modern technology”.

Ryan Marten and his legion of dedicated, mostly teen girl fans think Internet vlogging (video blogging) is the new rock and roll. But every fad has a shelf life and Ryan’s manager Dee is looking for someone new: a reluctant star, a girl with whom YouTube viewers can identify. She finds Chloe and propels her to stardom. But it is not the journey any of them was expecting.

Follow/Unfollow reunites director Pete Mitchelson with actors Jay Podmore and Josie Sedgwick-Davies (on video) who appeared in Saving Grace at Buxton Fringe in 2012. The cast also includes Leanne Martin and Lily Shepherd. They will be accompanied by a Greek chorus of the clamouring internet community on video.

Follow/Unfollow will be performed at Underground Venues, The Square, Buxton on Thursday 16 and Monday 20 July at 3:45PM and Wednesday 22 July at 8:45PM.
