Wearing Colours

John Dillon’s Wearing Colours is to be performed in Liverpool for the first time in 15 years.

Set before and in the immediate aftermath of the Heysel Stadium disaster, the work explores the differing reactions of four individuals who attended the game on that fateful night.

It was written by Dillon and performed only five months after the tragedy by Vauxy Theatre and went on to Edinburgh Festival the following year, becoming the subject of a BBC documentary.

The play then reopened in Liverpool Playhouse Studio went on to be made into a TV drama. It was last performed in Liverpool in 2008 at the Unity Theatre.

Now it returns to Liverpool Hope Street Theatre April 23–25.
