Hollywood producer and studio boss Harvey Weinstein is turning to Leicester’s De Montfort University to nurture a new pool of talent.

He is offering students the chance to work on his stage production Finding Neverland when it plays in London and New York next year.

The show which is currently playing at Leicester’s Curve tells the story of writer J M Barrie and the adventures he had with the family who inspired him to write Peter Pan.

Weinstein is now offering students the opportunity to design the shoes that Tinker Bell will wear in the West End and on Broadway.

A competition will be held and one of the prizes will be to spend a week as an intern with the West End and Broadway production.

Judges will be Finding Neverland director Rob Ashford, West End star Elaine Paige and fashion designer Georgina Chapman, founder of Marchesa.

Weinstein is also offering an internship on the reality TV show Project Runway which is filmed in New York.

Rob Ashford said, “We hope this competition will inspire a younger generation to see the exciting opportunities in the world of theatre.”

Finding Neverland continues at Curve until Saturday, 13 October.
