The Glenn Miller Story, starring Tommy Steele, comes to Newcastle’s Theatre Royal from Monday to Saturday.

At Northern Stage on Thursday and Friday, Camisado Club presents You, Me and Everything Else, a science-fact love story, and on Friday the theatre’s co-production with Improbable and Oxford Playhouse, The Tempest, begins previews, opening on 29 September and running until 10 October.

On Sunday Newcastle’s Alphabetti Theatre presents Write Back, script-in-hand readings of new plays from the region.

On Thursday at 6PM, Dance City presents Dance Edits, a night of new work by dance makers based in the north east. The pieces are all short (5-10 minutes), and there are eight different pieces commissioned by the venue in a range of styles.

On Wednesday, Propeller brings its all-male version of The Merchant of Venice, Pocket Merchant, to Alnwick Playhouse.

The week at ARC Stockton begins with a rehearsed reading by Tamasha of Taxi Tales on Monday, followed on Tuesday and Wednesday by Camisado Club who will be performing You, Me and Everything Else. Both shows are 'Pay What You Like'. Saturday brings two children’s shows: at 11:30 and 2:30, Patrick Lynch from Cbeebies performs Puss in Boots for age 3 to 8 years and from 1 to 3 Urban Kaos presents Groovy Babies: POPtastic Pyjama Party! for age 0 to 5 years.

On Friday and Saturday (various times) Darlington Civic presents Dinosaur Zoo.

Northern Broadsides’ production of The Winter’s Tale continues at Harrogate Theatre until Saturday. On Friday and on Saturday in the Studio, Project Juno is a one-woman show about Helen Sharman’s story of becoming the first Briton in Space.
