Agnes & Walter: A Little Love Story
Opera North's Faust
Beautiful Burnout

Opera North visits the Newcastle Theatre Royal this week with Gounod’s Faust on Tuesday and Friday, Mozart’s Don Giovanni on Wednesday and Saturday and Janacek’s The Makropulos Case on Friday.

Frantic Assembly and The National Theatre of Scotland bring their production of Bryony Lavery’s Beautiful Burnout to Northern Stage from Tuesday to Saturday in Stage 1, while, in Stage 2 on Saturday, the Christmas show for the under-6s, The Little Detective Agency and the Case of the Festive Thief, opens and runs until 5th January.

Thursday is Scratch Night in Live Theatre’s Studio and, on Friday in the Main House, it’s the turn of Theatre Uncut, short plays by writers from across the world in response to their current political situation. Writers include Neil LaBute and David Greig.

At Dance City on Saturday Smith Dance Theatre presents Agnes & Walter: A Little Love Story, based on James Thurber’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Starlight Express runs at Sunderland Empire from Tuesday until 24th November.

Handheld Arts present Paper Tom at Arts Centre Washington on Thursday.

Nutcracker by Moscow Ballet la Classique comes to the Whitley Bay Playhouse on Monday.

Various productions for children and young people from the TakeOff Festival run at the Gala Theatre in Durham from Wednesday to Friday at various times. See the website for details.

The touring production of The Woman in Black plays at Billingham Forum from Monday to Saturday.

Agnes & Walter: A Little Love Story is at ARC Stockton on Thursday.

On Wednesday at 10am Visible Fictions brings its production of Jason and the Argonauts (for age 9+) to Hartlepool’s Town Hall Theatre.

Mike Kenny’s Red Riding Hood, for age 4+, is at Darlington Civic on Tuesday at 10am, and from Wednesday to Saturday John Godber directs Bouncers.

The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde comes to the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond on Tuesday and Wednesday.
