Elixir of Love in rehearsal

Opera North continues its bid to introduce more people in Salford to opera with two Whistle Stop performances of Donizetti’s Elixir of Love at historic Ordsall Hall.

This light-hearted production has been designed to make opera more accessible to people who might be nervous about attending a full performance. Sung in English and reduced to just half an hour, the new adaptation features John Savournin (who co-directs), soprano Daisy Brown, tenor Alex Banfield and accordionist Miloš Milivojević.

Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore is being performed at The Lowry that evening, so anyone inspired by the mini version can hot foot it to Salford Quays and watch the original in its entirety.
