Erica Whyman, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Northern Stage, has been nominated in the Theatre Employee/Manager of the Year category in this year’s Theatrical Management Association (TMA) awards.

She is nominated along with Ciarán McAuley (Chief Executive of the Lyric Theatre, Belfast), Janthi Mills (General Manager of the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry) and Graham Sutherland (Head of Production at the Citizens Theatre, Glasgow).

Whyman has been in post at Northern Stage since 2005, taking over after the theatre’s multi-million pound refurbishment. She was formerly Artistic Director of the Gate in Notting Hill and of Southwark Playhouse and was one of the first fellows of the Clore Leadership Programme.

She will be leaving Northern Stage and joining the RSC as Deputy Artistic Director in January.
