Henry V: 2013 Walk

This April, Guildford Shakespeare Company will be joining the national celebrations of Shakespeare's 450th birthday on 23 April with a series of special events, including the company's popular Sonnet Walk Weekend.

On 19 April, regular GSC actor Johanne Murdock plays Will's wife Anne Hathaway-Shakespeare in a one-woman show, The Other Shakespeare, written by Roy Chatfield, produced by Pitchfork Productions and directed by Ian Flintoff.

On 23 April, the company's Matt Pinches will be delivering an illustrated talk about the Bard's life before the theatre beckoned. From Country Lad to Upstart Crow explores his home life in Stratford, the myth of deer-poaching, a secret marriage, and being the son of the Mayor.

The following weekend (26 and 27 April) sees the return of GSC's Sonnet Walk Weekend. Imagine a treasure hunt where, armed with just a map and a good dollop of bonhomie, walkers set off around Guildford in small groups, encountering Shakespearean actors in unlikely places.

The Sonnet Walks have sold out in previous years and there are limited places available. Each walk last approximately an hour and begin every fifteen minutes.

All Birthday Bash events take place at (or start from) St Mary's Church, Quarry Street, Guildford.
