To celebrate the theatre's 125th anniversary, Blackpool Grand Theatre has, for the first time, launched its own production company to produce its first ever summer show, Around the World in 80s Days.
The Grand has commissioned Ian McFarlane as its first writer and director to create the musical show based on Jules Verne’s novel.
He said, “it’s going to be a show that you can expect to know lots of the songs from, but we’ve tried to step it up a gear. We use 1980s music to tell it—sometimes in ways you might not expect.”
British gentleman Phileas Fogg and his valet set off on a race against time, outwitting dastardly villains and escaping perilous locales in a comedy musical.
The show will run August 7—31.
