A Grand opportunity

Blackpool Grand Theatre and Northern Broadsides are teaming up with the Royal Shakespeare Company to offer workshops to writers of all ages from across the local community.

The Grand has joined the RSC and 11 other theatre partners across the country in 37 Plays—Writing The Stories Of Our Nation, which invites children, young people and adults to write / create the comedies, tragedies and histories of our time.

The Grand is hosting an Introduction to Writing Workshop & Masterclass with Jack Holden on June 10. Jack is an Olivier-nominated writer, producer and actor from who graduated from the Bristol Old Vic theatre school in 2011. Join Jack from 10AM–1PM to explore new ways of finding inspiration for your play, devising interesting characters and writing engaging dialogue.

By the end of the workshop, there will be a sharing of written scenes, read aloud by professional actors. After the workshop in the afternoon, from 3PM to 4PM, will be the Masterclass in which Jack, in conversation, will discuss how he approaches character. Participants from the morning writing workshop will be invited to join as a live audience. This Masterclass will be recorded and available on demand from June 20 via the 37 Plays web site.
