Northampton’s Royal and Derngate is looking for a young director who will be resident at the theatre for 18 months from January 2015.
Royal and Derngate is one of four theatres nationwide to join the Regional Theatre Young Director Scheme (RTYDS)—“the UK's longest-running and most influential training scheme for young directors”.
The residency will enable the director to continue his or her artistic training by working on productions, directing projects and experiencing the operational running of a theatre.
The RTYDS director at Royal and Derngate will assist artistic director James Dacre in the rehearsal room as well as freelance directors who look after Made in Northampton productions.
James Dacre commented, “I’m delighted that we’ll be able to support and nurture a promising young director as part of this invaluable training scheme, from which I myself have benefited, along with of one my predecessors in Northampton, Rupert Goold.
“It’s a great opportunity and I look forward to working with the successful applicant.”
More details about the scheme and how to apply can be found at the Royal and Derngate web site. The closing date is Monday 4 August.
