Buxton Opera House is looking for young performers to appear in two contrasting musicals, Lionel Bart’s Oliver! and Jonathan Larson’s Rent, the contemporary version of the opera La Bohème.
Chief executive Paul Kerryson will direct. He said, “I’m thrilled to follow the success of West Side Story (February 2018) with another opportunity to showcase the talent of our young performers in these two brilliant musicals. If you think you’ve got what it takes, come along to the auditions.”
Auditions for the workhouse boys, who are aged between 8 and 14, Oliver and Dodger will be on the morning of Saturday 1 December. Applicants should download a registration form from the Buxton Opera House web site. Other audition dates will be released later.
Oliver! will be performed at the Opera House from 24 until 26 May and 5 until 9 June 2019. Rent will be performed on 30 May, and from 4 until 9 June.
