Theatre by the Lake in Keswick has been making strides with its Christmas Appeal to support its programme for young people in 2020, which was launched at the beginning of December.

TBTL’s current programme for young people includes the TBTL Young Company which provides weekly term-time sessions for children aged 7–18. Participants have the opportunity to create original pieces of theatre, work on scripts, develop performance skills and perform.

TBTL will be offering 15 funded bursary places in the spring term to participants who otherwise might not be able to attend.

Other young-person-centred programmes offered include £10 tickets for under-26s to all in-house productions, theatre workshops for local schools and youth organisations, backstage tours for community groups and subsidised tickets for community organisations.

Theatre by the Lake has had a roaring start with the first £5,000 pledged from the Friends of Theatre by the Lake and almost £3,000 from individual donors, meaning they are just under £2,000 from their goal and hope to smash the target before the fundraising appeal closes mid-January.
