The Youth Theatre at the Customs House in South Shields wishes to commission a new or emerging writer to work collaboratively with the young people create a script for the Junior Youth Theatre to be performed in March 2016 in the Main House at The Customs House.
The script will be up to 40 minutes in length and have eight main parts and an ensemble.
The piece will use the group’s current devised piece, If Words Weren’t Free, as a starting point and the successful applicant will work with the group and their facilitator for three sessions to gain a strong understanding of the piece.
In addition:
- The script must be suitable for performers aged 10 to 14 years old.
- The total fee is £650, which includes attendance at three sessions, five days of writing and half a day for rewrites.
The timeframe is as follows:
- 30 October - Deadline for applications
- 2 November - Shortlisting
- 6, 13, 20 November - Attendance at sessions
- 4 December - Deadline for first draft
- 6 January - Deadline for final draft/Read-through with group (TBA)
