Bepo & Co

UnWish Theatre
C Chambers Street

A troupe of clowns from a bizarre circus come on stage and begin to tell the story of their lives, loves and their experiences of the world. Instead of being a straight telling, the play instead covers an entire century and highlights some of the horrors across the world as the group encounter all manner of historical events and weave their tale in and around them.

It's a nice spectale and the players all act well, in full make-up and costume, exhibiting all forms of clowning and mummery with a delicate finesse. It's a shame then that the overall effect is slightly too obtuse and the concept too strange to really enrapture the audience. Instead it sits as an interesting piece but not one that can be readily recommended.
