Bottle Mail from Okinawa

Megumi Tomita, Director
Ship of the Ryukyu
Spotlites @ The Merchants’ Hall

A boy writes a letter and puts it in a bottle to send it out to the world.

In it he describes his life in the castle in a small kingdom where the big sea gives many blessings. He wants to share this life. And the dancers show us the tradition of farming and fishing.

We open this bottle to see a world of traditional dance and music with colourful costumes and lighting.

This is a familiar concept which provides rich opportunities to share the traditions of Okinawa.

Director Megumi Tomita has brought a programme with music, dance, and customs steeped in Okinawan tradition.

Here is a perfect show for the entire family.
