Ponycam’s contemporary comedy-workshop-challenge-theatre is a chaotic work of art.

Four performers aim to beat a collective running record whilst completing a series of special challenges, which they will perform from four running machines while attempting to run just shy of a half marathon between them. And the stakes are high: there is a money-back guarantee if they don’t complete everything on time!

What ensues is a stressfully hilarious race against time in which the audience becomes entirely complicit, running around to support the group on their quest: completing tasks, playing games, chopping, eating, e-mailing, pledging, singing, painting, fetching and carrying.

Ponycam aims to bring people together through unique live experiences that allow their audiences to question their assumptions—briefly and frenetically alluded to as the end of the performance drew near. It wasn’t until the sweat began to pour, wires got crossed and confusion crept in that this purpose gently exposed itself: how did everything get so stressful? How do we regain control when the clock is always ticking and there’s so much to be done?

Seriously funny, unique and surprisingly cleverly constructed amidst the frenzy of activity, Burnout Paradise is a truly exceptional theatrical experience.
