A butch Vampire (Rosanna Suppa) doesn't fit in at Scare University and struggles to find where she belongs, before embracing not belonging and bringing down the sexy, malevolent Dean (Eleanor Colville).

Airlock Company has staged three of these "big queer music extravaganza's" which are a talented turmoil of wit, puns and silliness. It's part-musical, part-panto and very much wholly one big lesbian-vampire romp. Monster references, lewd jokes and a nod to vampire cult classics throughout.

Count Dykula loves a garlic naan and scaring kids behind Asda. The other (many) parts are played by the super-versatile Colville and Robbie Taylor-Hunt. Colville's performance as the fake-boobed Dean is utterly mesmerising. And yet hidden under the surface of all this, is a sweet message about not belonging, how people will prey on your insecurities for their own gain and how power is in acceptance.

It took me a few minutes to get into the spirit of things; the slapstick, farce and puns took a bit of getting used to (think eye-rolls and groans kinda humour). But once I'd given way to my inner-giggle self, I sat back in my seat to be highly entertained by their antics. The school tannoy announcements are brilliant (cleverly covering quick scene changes) and so is the versatility of the three actors. A random gnome threw me; what did this have to do with the plot-line? But what was wrong with me? Why was I still trying to make sense of stuff anyway?

The use of props is imaginative and the Meg Narongchai (musician) played us excellent live music throughout. Their singing is great, the script witty and an endearing message underneath or restrictive normality proved it an excellent, bonkers evening out in Soho.
