Evelyn Evelyn

Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls) and Jason Webley
Assembly George Square

Amanda Palmer and Jason Webley give us the sad and tragic tale of the unwillingly famous conjoined twin musicians Evelyn and Evelyn. After being physically pushed onstage to the welcoming brogue of Thomas Truax, they tell the beginnings of their story to the crowd using the medium of shadow puppetry, then alternate with various instruments as they play through a selection of songs.

This is a massively cut-down version of the longer Evelyn Evelyn show which was toured last year, and as a result feels a mite shorter and less prepared than the event should. While the slapdash presentation is part of the fun and the performances are well received, this does feel like a half-hearted attempt to give a taster of the full experience. A good job but not quite the double act.
