Sherie Rene Scott

Sherie Rene Scott is effortlessly captivating, witty and somewhat bizarre in her one-woman cabaret show which explores her journey from vegetarian to meat eater.

She is best known for her role as Kathy in Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years and also as Amneris in Elton John & Tim Rice’s Aida. Scott brings some of this Broadway dazzle with her and also two equally exceptional musicians; Alana Dawes on double bass and Mike Porter on percussion who is just as fascinating to watch as Scott.

Todd Almond (musical director/arranger), a contemporary composer and performer in his own right, accompanies Scott on the piano, and a particular highlight is Scott’s rendition of his song “Oh Sean” which is incredibly moving.

The narrative roughly traces her decision to stop being a vegetarian and become a fully-fledged meat eater again, via various encounters with the Dalai Lama (who wears a Rolex… like Scott), Paul McCartney and a fish.

The result is that the songs do weave in and out of the narrative smoothly and Scott is able to draw out the meaning and complexity of emotions being portrayed in each song.

This was a real treat for London, hopefully she’ll be winging her way back soon across the Atlantic to grace the West End stage…
