Spielpalast Cabaret

Remarkable Arts
Hill Street

This late night cabaret has tried to fashion itself on the “Cabaret” type of entertainment of the flapper era in Berlin; lots of scantily clad girls and a master of ceremonies.

But chaos on stage is difficult to achieve because it requires extreme precision. And this production just seems messy and unrehearsed for the most part.

There are eighteen performers of varying talent. The MC seems competent. But the direction is sorely missing. Actors cannot seem to find the light. Not totally the fault of the director but if there is a lighting designer, he or she needs to figure out what’s needed when.

There are a few more polished performances and some really decent singing voices. But this production is nowhere near ready for an audience.
