The Browning Version
HOGHEAD Theatre Company
theSpace on the Mile
Rattigan's classic tale of a retiring school classics master and his dealings with the staff and sundry is realised with no small level of skill. Being played out in a reliably solid fashion this performance was both entertaining and accomplished well, especially considering the youth of the actors and the varieties of ages being portrayed.
The tale is, as ever, funny and downbeat by turns, but for a Fringe production the result is accomplished with such charm and charisma that by the time the closing moments roll round we feel quite at home among the characters and share in their respective rise and falls.
