YOAH

Who doesn’t like a great circus performance?!?”

Gone are the days of pretty girls riding around on elephants and tightrope walkers and jugglers. It may have been the animal rights people; use of elephants, horses and wildcat have been eliminated or highly regulated. It may have been the Wallendas, walking hundreds of feet above tall buildings. It may have been the creative team of the Cirque du Soleil franchise that threw down the gauntlet. It may have been our thirst for the ultimate of exciting experiences.

It should not only be fun for the entire family but must create awe. This means money. Lots of money.

YOAH, “Japan’s most talked about, contemporary circus company”, is one of the outcrops of the “extreme” circuses trend. This is the future of circus; not just pushing the envelope but expanding it to include more. And more.

YOAH, if taken in its various parts, would succeed. The light show is dazzling. Combined with the sound / music it is first-rate.

If it was only the dance and movement that was considered, one would accept this as delightfully beautiful.

And if the aerialist high above on the swing was the entertainment, we would be delighted, with all our gasps and cheers. Or the man building a structure of chairs beneath him. Or the men who juggle (?) lighted spools (?) sort of yo-yo fashion, throwing them tens of feet in the air and catching them.

But all together it is a glut of entertainment. It’s hard to believe that this company has only six performers (if you include the muscle that secures by ropes and pulleys those aloft). Of course, there are probably double that who travel with this company to make this happen.

And the most critical in the audience are the children. They can sit in your lap, but don't let them on the stage. YOAH is for the entire family. Everyone owes themselves at least one great circus a year. Go get it.
