Jillian is our yoga instructor, on probation still. But she is dedicated to providing a good class and hopes that you will give her good recommendations. She needs the classes and she needs the money. But you will find out all about that.
Michole Biancosino as Jillian has enticed six audience members to join her on stage. They will physically represent her class. The day I was there, her “class” did remarkably well.
Jillian is very dedicated. In her class, you will put all the ills of the world aside. “You can wait 60 minutes to find out about the war. Breathe in.” She wants to know what “brings you joy. Breathe out.”
She injects bits of her story between yoga instructions. There is a reason that she is on probation, and we find out all the detail between “downward facing dog and tabletop”.
Yoga with Jillian provides the mats for the participants. A laptop perched on a stool represents an online class only referred to in the beginning and the end or the show. (Not needed.)
This is a one-woman show beautifully constructed by Lia Romeo and excellently delivered by Michole Biancosino. Romeo’s script allows for the ad-libs skilfully delivered by Biancosino. This production seems to have found a flawless pairing.
This a fine bit of theatre. Kudos.
