  • A Fortunate Man

    Based on Booker Prize-winning John Berger’s book about the experiences of a 1960s doctor, John Sassall, and coinciding with the NHS’s 70th anniversary, New Perspectives explores of how we care for those who care for us. It uses the words and experiences of Sassall, with archive footage, images, and interviews with present-day medical practitioners, and starts with Sassall's suicide. A Fortunate Man is written and directed by Michael Pinchbeck. Matthew Brown and Hayley Doherty form the cast.

  • Showstoppers Kids Show

    For the 11th year, award-winning The Showstoppers Kids Show will entertain young audiences with a show that sees them create a new musical. No two shows are the same with kids on stage. Suitable for families and very different to the evening Showstoppers production.

  • Songlines

    This coming-of-age love story between cool Stevie and peak geek Stan by Tallullah Brown features live folk songs from award winning band TRILLS. Presented by HighTide and DugOut Theatre.

  • Sparks

    This two-hander musical about the brain's response to grief is by Jessica Butcher with original music by Anoushka Lucas. Directed by Jessica Edwards, it is presented by Michelle Barnette Productions and Flipping the Bird with HighTide.

  • Busking It

    Gig-theatre piece Busking It by Danusia Samal draws on a busker's decade on the Tube to tell stories of those who live and pass through the city. The show is presented by Coin Drop in association with HighTide and Shoreditch Town Hall.

  • Thor and Loki

    Vicky Graham Productions in association with HighTide and Something For The Weekend present this fierce, new comedy musical by Harry Blake. War rages and despite their destinies, will Thor and Loki find the strength to be themselves and change the world.

  • The Extinction Event

    Hypnotist magicians David Aula and Simon Evans present an examination of what happens when science starts thinking for itself. SEDA and Glynis Henderson Productions in association with HighTide present the story of real magic. Not the story of a magic trick.

  • Rob Berry / Major X / Murder Mr. E

    In a piece of immersive theatre, Agent November battles his nemesis, Marty Orri. Written by Nathan Glover, this is an interactive challenge where the audiences determine their own fate with puzzle-solving challenges of which there are three—do one or all of them.

Comedy at the Pleasance includes Reginald D Hunter celebrating 20 years on the Fringe, award-winning Scottish stand-up star Daniel Sloss, a double dose of Jimeoin, Scotland’s own forensic mind reader Colin Cloud and Pete Firman, Showstoppers! The Improvised Musical, Gyles Brandreth and Hal Cruttenden.

The Assembly Festival comedy programme includes Jason Byrne, Andrew Maxwell, Simon Evans, Hardeep Singh Kohli, Jess Robinson, James Hancox, Kate Berlant and John Hegley. There is also a packed offering of theatre, cabaret, circus and dance, music, children’s shows, musicals and spoken word.
