Best Girl was a highlight of the 2019 Fringe season. The semi-autobiographical monologue, written by Christine Mackie and performed by her daughter, Lois Mackie, drew attention to mental health issues in a moving but far from mawkish manner, making the play a pleasure to watch.

Theatre bookings had been lined up for 2020 but had to be cancelled due to bloody COVID. However, you can’t keep a good play down and Best Girl will return in a new format- filmed by John Anthony.

The film of Best Girl will be screened on paus.tv—an online platform which shares new independent films. The film will be available from 7PM on Saturday 17 to 1AM Monday 18 April and is 50 mins long with a Q&A session afterwards.

The film is free to watch although viewers can show their appreciation for the filmmaker by leaving a tip; 80% of which will go directly to the filmmaker.

Viewers can register for the screening at Eventbrite.

Anyone who missed out on the stage version is in for a treat and those lucky enough to have seen the play get the chance to find out how well it adapts to a new format.
