Indigo

Author(s): Book by Kait Kerrigan, score by Scott Evan Davis Company: Sing Out, Louise! Productions in association with Curve

When her mother is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Beverly and her husband Rick open their home to care for her. While adjusting to their new circumstances, Beverly’s daughter Emma – a non-speaking autistic teenager with synesthesia – unexpectedly crashes back into her life. Her arrival forces Beverly and Rick to confront the past and learn whether they can become the family Emma so desperately needs.

Indigo is a heart-warming musical which celebrates the bonds that unite us as family. Three generations of women navigate a life of mistakes, broken promises and ultimately, their need to reach one another. Emma’s internal experience, underscored by colour, allows the audience to experience life from her perspective, even while she remains silent to the outside world.
