Maxwell and Trehearn to appear in musical in Leicester

Lisa Maxwell and Rebecca Trehearn are among the cast of the musical Indigo which will be staged at Curve, Leicester in summer 2025.

Maxwell is known for appearing on the ITV series The Bill and Loose Women. She will play Elaine, a “firecracker” 63-year-old who is rebelling after being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s.

Trehearn won an Olivier award for best supporting actress in a musical for her role as Julie LaVerne in Showboat at the New London Theatre in 2017. In Indigo. she will be Beverly, Elaine’s good-hearted daughter who is trying to hold together the great life she has built from a rocky past.

Katie Cailean will make her professional stage debut as Emma, Beverly’s autistic and non-speaking daughter who shares her “whip-smart feelings and gifts of synesthesia” with the audience.

Completing the cast are Nuno Queimado as Beverly’s husband Rick, Hugo Rolland as teenager Tyler and Tania Mathurin as social worker Alicia. Inès Mazdon Delas will understudy the role of Emma.

Music and lyrics are by Scott Evan Davis, with a book by Kait Kerrigan. Indigo has been conceived by Jay Kuo, Lorenzo Thione and Scott Evan Davis. Catie Davis will direct.

Musical supervision, arrangements and orchestrations will be by Brad Haak. The creative team also includes set and video designer Andrzej Goulding, costume designer Susan Kulkarni, lighting designer Jake DeGroot and sound designer Matt Peploe. Casting is by Olivia Laydon for Jill Green Casting.

The UK première of Indigo will run in Curve’s Studio from Thursday 26 June until Saturday 19 July.
