Eighty years ago to commemorate the opening of the new Shakespeare Memorial Theatre the then Poet Laureate, John Masefield, wrote a poem.

This year, to mark the end of the World Shakespeare Festival, the present Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, has penned a personal homage to Shakespeare—a sonnet, the title of which takes his name.

Earlier this week, accompanying the first public reading of the sonnet at Stratford-upon-Avon, artist Stephen Raw unveiled a series of seven paintings inspired by the verse.

The poem can now be read online at www.rsc.org.uk and limited edition prints of the Stephen Raw works signed by the two artists, are available for purchase.
