An extra matinée performance has been added at Birmingham Hippodrome for Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty.

The Hippodrome’s chief executive Stuart Griffiths said, “Matthew Bourne’s work is always warmly received here in Birmingham and this year is certainly no exception.

“A new production is very exciting and this is reflected in the phenomenal demand for tickets that we’ve seen over the past few months.

“We’ve now added an extra matinée performance on Wednesday 6 February at 2PM to give even more people the chance to experience this new production.”

Sleeping Beauty marks the choreographer’s return to the music of Tchaikovsky and completes a trio of the composer’s works after Nutcracker! and Swan Lake. Both played to sell-out audiences in Birmingham.

Sleeping Beauty runs at the Hippodrome from Tuesday until Saturday, 5 to 9 February.

Meanwhile, two dates have been added to Cameron Mackintosh’s touring production of The Phantom of the Opera for its arrival at the Hippodrome in April.

Extra matinées will be held on two Tuesdays, 2 and 23 April, at 2PM.
