All-star cast for Birmingham Hippodrome panto

John Barrowman, Steve McFadden, Danielle Hope, the Krankies, Jodie Prenger and Matt Slack are among the cast of Dick Whittington, the 2016 panto at Birmingham Hippodrome.

Barrowman takes the title role. He last appeared at the Hippodrome in Robin Hood in 2008. His numerous stage credits include leading roles in Sunset Boulevard, Cole Porter’s Anything Goes, Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon and Stephen Sondheim’s Company.

McFadden has played Phil Mitchell in the BBC soap EastEnders for more than 25 years. He will be playing King Rat for the first time.

Danielle Hope made her professional debut as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium after winning the BBC's programme Over The Rainbow. She went on to play Eponine in the West End production of Les Miserables at the Queen's Theatre, a role she returned to in 2016. She was last seen on the Hippodrome stage playing Snow White in the 2013 production of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs.

Ian and Janette Tough, the Krankies, play Councillor and Jimmy Krankie, actress and singer Jodie Prenger is Fairy Bow Bells and for the fourth consecutive year Matt Slack is part of the cast, this time as Idle Jack. Andrew Ryan will play Sarah the Cook.

Dick Whittington runs at Birmingham Hippodrome from Monday 19 December 2016 until Sunday 29 January 2017.
