Amy Thompson, presenter of Channel 5’s morning children’s show Milkshake!, is to take the title role in Mansfield Palace Theatre’s 2014 panto Sleeping Beauty.
Her theatre credits include Gail in Teechers, Holly in Christmas Crackers, Annie in Wrestling Mad, Kay in Salt of the Earth, Maria in Screaming Blue Murder and Maggie in Thick as a Brick, all written and directed by John Godber for Hull Truck Theatre Company.
She said, “The thing with theatre is that you give that bit more energy—and you certainly get it back. I feel drained afterwards! It's certainly keeps me fit.”
Adam Moss plays Silly Billy. As previously announced, former Coronation Street actress Vicky Entwistle plays the Bad Fairy.
Almost 15,000 tickets have already been sold for the panto, which is close to 50% of the total number available.
Sleeping Beauty runs at Mansfield Palace Theatre from Saturday, November 29 until Sunday, January 5.
