As the London Theatre Consortium's apprenticeship programme enters its fourth year, the organisation has published a report hailing the successes of the programme so far.

The report shows that the programme has been able to diversify the theatre workforce and create new entry routes.

The programme has been able to reach those in currently under–represented socio-economic backgrounds with 62% of apprentices to date coming from non-white-British backgrounds and 27% having a disability.

56 apprenticeships were created in disciplines including technical theatre, costume, community arts, venue operations, producing and administration in the first three years at an investment of £800,0000.

Apprentices benefited from increased self-confidence, organisational skills and work readiness whilst employers said that the programme had made them reconsider inclusivity and access in their current work practices.

The 2017 apprenticeship programme is offering up to 12 new apprenticeships. All apprentices receive the adult National Minimum Wage, regardless of their age, whilst they receive college and workplace training, mentoring support and opportunities to network.
