Some seven hundred high profile artists have signed a pledge not to accept professional invitations to Israel whilst "the state continues to deny Palestinian rights".
Amongst those who have signed up are a number of prominent theatre practitioners including Caryl Churchill, David Edgar, Dominic Cooke CBE, Sir Jonathan Miller and Mark Ravenhill and actors Anna Carteret, Simon McBurney and Miriam Margolyes.
Organised by Artists for Palestine UK, the pledge supports "the Palestinian struggle for freedom, justice and equality".
Of those who have signed, one hundred have issued an open letter to British artists explaining their reasons and inviting those in the arts industries to support the pledge.
The full text of the letter and pledge and their signatories can be found on the Artists for Palestine web site together with other information regarding the boycott.
