Bournemouth’s Arts by the Sea Festival, now in its third year, has over fifty events covering music, dance, film, visual arts, performance and spoken word.

The launch weekend will see giant articulated vehicles and machines on the beach in Joe Rush’s Mutoid Waste and light installations, film screenings, live music, dance and street performance in the town centre.

The programme over the subsequent three weeks includes performances by legendary ‘punk poet’ John Cooper Clarke, Mark Bruce Company’s dance interpretation of Dracula and a candlelit concert of work by Paganini as well as screenings of, amongst others, Alfred Hitchcock’s early films accompanied by live music.

Carol Maund, the Festival Director says: ‘We’re very excited to present this year’s programme of rich and varied events for the Arts by the Sea Festival. This year we have built on the success of the past two Festivals by bringing some of the very best local, national and international artists, performers and film-related events to Bournemouth. We have big names in dance, music and animatronics, as well as workshops run by professionals from their field.’

The Arts By the Sea Festival runs from 20 September to 12 October 2013 in various venues across the town. For further information and booking visit www.artsbournemouth.org.uk.
