Ballet Nights 005 New Futures will present a mid-summer programme 28–29 June, featuring "world-class dancers, emerging artists, modern masterpieces, new creations, legacy works and live music."
Jamiel Devernay-Laurence, Artistic Director and Ballet Nights compère said, “we’ve got a superb programme of masterful performances by principals from two major UK companies, international artists, emerging voices and a mystery guest."
“This June we’re headlining no less than two star couples: Sangeun Lee and Gareth Haw from English National Ballet in Terra|Astra, a brand new work by Jordan James Bridge and commissioned by Ballet Nights, and Matthew Ball and Mayara Magrifrom the Royal Ballet in (Re)Current choreographed by Matthew Ball.
“I’m also thrilled to have the chance of celebrating the unique legacy of Peter Darrell CBE, one of the most productive and imaginative talents in 20th century British ballet, who founded Scottish Ballet in 1969 and permanently changed the way people looked at ballet with his visionary productions of dance that appealed way beyond the traditional ballet audience.
“We are delighted to have Scottish Ballet’s former Principal, Eve Mutso, to perform Peter’s electric Solo from Five Rückert Songs. The music, by Gustav Mahler, will be performed live by Viktor Erik Emanuel on piano and Dana Mays, mezzo soprano.”
