The closure of the Barbican's Theatre for most of the second half of the year has meant an expansion of its programme of off-site works, and this includes a selection of productions that have been added recently to the Barbican's spring/summer 2013 season.
Schaubühne Berlin's return to London with the UK première of Fräulein Julie, co-directed by Katie Mitchell and Leo Warner, will be the last production before building work commences.
Three subsequent site specific productions are announced for East London venues, though two locations are yet to be revealed. These are for award-winning children’s theatre company Theatre-Rites's Bank On It, a promenade performance for those aged five and over on the theme of money, and The Paper Architect from multidisciplinary artists Davy and Kristin McGuire, which uses paper craft and video projection to express the architect’s imagination.
Taking place in St Bartholomew the Great Church is How Like An Angel, a collaborative work from Australia's contemporary circus company Circa with British vocal ensemble I Fagiolini. Originally presented as part of the London 2012 Festival the performance combines acrobatics and sacred song in a promenade performance.
