Barbican new season

The details of the Barbican Theatre and Dance programme running from October through into January has been announced.

Alongside the shows for the Barbican Theatre—Boy Blue Entertainment, Michael Clark Company, Toneelgroep Amsterdam, Richard Alston Dance Company, and the RSC—the Pit will house the CASA Latin American Theatre Festival and the Best of BE Festival, showcasing work from emerging European companies.

The children's programme includes innovative touring company Told by an Idiot's first show for young people and there's innovation for grown–ups too from Betty Nansen Teatret's Mozart Undone, a Theatre Concert which sees Mozart's work reinterpreted as rock and pop anthems with new lyrics sung in English.

Later in the year Handspring Puppet Company returns with the Bristol Old Vic's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Debussy String Quartet visit from France to perform the UK première of Opus and the English National Ballet make their Barbican debut with the world première of Lest We Forget, a commissioned piece marking the start of the First World War.

The full programme and on line booking is available from the Barbican's web site.
