Robert Bathurst in Blue/Orange

Starring Robert Bathurst from TV’s Downton Abbey, Blue/Orange, the award-winning play by Joe Penhall, arrives at the Opera House in Manchester later this month.

It is the story of Christopher (Oliver Wilson), who believes a notorious military dictator is his father. In the battle of wills his psychiatrist Robert (Bathurst) plans to thrust him back into the community, but a young doctor (Gerard McCarthy) thinks this is too soon. A compelling and witty battle of freedom and ambition unfolds.

Joe Penhall wrote the original play 12 years ago, when it won an Olivier Award, a Critic's Circle Award and the Evening Standard Award for Best Play, but it remains sharply relevant.

Blue/Orange is the second show in Theatre Royal Brighton Productions inaugural season, and follows Dandy Dick, which came to the Opera House in the summer.
