Charles Castronovo sings Dolce Napoli: The Neopolitan Songs at the King's Head

On 29 April a motorbike will be noisily revving outside the stage door of London's Royal Opera House waiting for American tenor Charles Castronovo to dash away from his curtain call and whisk him off to Islington's King's Head where he is due at 11PM to sing in a concert promoting his new CD, Dolce Napoli.

Mozart's The Magic Flute in which he is playing Tamino couldn’t be more different from the collection of Neopolitan songs this American born Sicilian–Ecuadorian singer has recorded which include "Come Faccette Mametta" and "Santa Lucia".

Dashing between a David and Goliath of London venues—the King's Head seats some 100 whilst the Opera House accommodates 2,256—to make it to the stage on time comes fast on the tail of a similar dash for Castronovo between New York's Metropolitan Opera to the club 54 Below.

Those who like to be tucked up in bed early will be pleased that performances start at a more conventional 7:15 during the rest of the run. These include a King’s Head Theatre benefit performance (Sunday 7 April) where the enhanced ticket price includes a free copy of the CD, Dolce Napoli: The Neopolitan Songs.

Charles Castronovo sings Dolce Napoli: The Neopolitan Songs at the King's Head from Sunday 31 March to Sunday 14 April at 7:15PM and on Monday 29 April at 11:00PM.
