Northern Comedy Theatre presents Hitchcock Blonde, in which a murder mystery meets cinematic history in a play which also explains legendary film director Alfred Hitchcock’s obsession with blonde leading ladies.
It’s at the Brindley Theatre, Runcorn April 13–14.
Terry Johnson’s black comedy sees Alex, a media lecturer suffering a mid-life crisis, invite Jennifer, one of his students, to a Greek villa to examine a long-lost film fragment that Hitchcock made in 1919.
Meanwhile, in 1959, Hitch is auditioning a troubled actress to play Janet Leigh’s body double in the infamous shower scene of his film Psycho.
Running time two hours (including interval). Suitable for adults only.
Northern Comedy Theatre was formed in Merseyside in 2015 and has recently completed an off-West End residency and UK tour of its play Doing Shakespeare which followed its presentation of the world première of All Above Board written by British comedy legend Nigel Planer that toured in summer 2021.
