The Octagon Theatre in Bolton hosts one of the UK’s best-loved comedy dramas: Brassed Off.

The play coincides with the 30th anniversary of the 1984 miners’ strike, and is based on a true story and the 1996 film starring Pete Postlethwaite, Ewan McGregor and Tara Fitzgerald, written by Mark Herman.

Taking on the role of the passionate band conductor Danny is John McArdle. John has performed several times on the Octagon stage, most recently in The Queen of the North by Ron Rose.

The Octagon performances of this touring production will feature three local brass bands—Blackburn & Darwen, Eaglely and Wingates—who will join the cast live on stage on a rotating schedule.

It runs from May 15 to June 14.
