British Youth Music Theatre is looking for work by emerging writers and composers aged 30 or under for its New Music Theatre Award.
The BYMT will collaborate with the winner of the award on a commission worth £6,000 and with mentoring and dramaturgical support.
Jon Bromwich, BYMT’s executive producer, said, “British Youth Music Theatre plays a vital role in investing in the future of music theatre. Through the New Music Theatre Award, we are determined to further the development of remarkable young creatives, giving them a platform to express and showcase their creativity.”
A panel of five industry professionals will select the winning entry based on music, concept, writing quality, lyric content and appropriateness.
The Deadline for submissions is 16 November. Following interviews in December, the Award winner will be announced on 22 February.
