The production of Being Shakespeare by Shakespeare scholar Jonathan Bate starring Simon Callow as the Bard is to be released on DVD on 8 March.
Released just as the production returns to Trafalgar Studios in London, the DVD records Callow's performance as Shakespeare with a text that weaves together extracts from his plays and poems framed by the "seven ages of man" speech spoken by Jacques in As You Like It.
The performance was recorded by Sky Arts during the play's run in the West End last year and will be broadcast as part of the Shakespeare season that will begin on 15 April. The DVD also includes an interview with Callow and performances by him of his own selection of Shakespeare sonnets.
The DVD was recorded by Illuminations Media for ATG and Act Productions in association with Sky Arts and will have a RRP of £14.99.
