Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre

Storyhouse in Chester has put tickets for its Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre season on sale.

The venue aims to open May 29 until August 30 with 110 shows.

Children’s classic The Jungle Book (May 29–August 30) and Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor (June 4–August 30) will be performed alongside Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice (July 9–August 30).

Glyn Maxwell’s adaptation of the Kipling classic The Jungle Book follows his Grosvenor Park favourites Alice in Wonderland, Wind in the Willows and Cyrano de Bergerac. British-Indian director Gitika Buttoo will direct. Deborah McAndrew has adapted Pride and Prejudice, and Conrad Nelson will direct. John Young will direct Merry Wives of Windsor. Design is by Jessica Curtis.

Grosvenor Park staged just about the only full-sized theatre show in the UK last summer, which saw Comedy of Errors sell all its tickets in a week. Organisers expect a similar rush for this year and have doubled the length of the season accordingly.
