Chichester Festival Theatre has five contenders in this year’s Theatre Management Association Awards. The following nominations include talented actors, directors and writers that joined Chichester for Festival 2011 and 2012:

  • Best New Play: South Downs by David Hare
  • Best Performance in a play: Henry Goodman in The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui
  • Best Musical Production: Sweeney Todd directed by Jonathan Kent
  • Best Performance in a musical: Michael Ball in Sweeney Todd
  • Best Performance in a musical: Imelda Staunton in Sweeney Todd

These are the only theatrical awards that address theatre throughout England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and London’s West End.

After last year’s run at Chichester, Sweeney Todd ran at the Adelphi Theatre in the West End from March until 22 September, playing to packed houses.

You can vote in the Theatre Awards UK’s first public vote for the best touring production category, which includes a nomination for Winter 2011’s Swallows and Amazons.
