Class of ‘13 - The Yard's first curated festival includes Jake Costello’s solo show Spank House

Artistic Director of East London venue The Yard, Jay Miller, has curated a collection of performances and live experiences under the banner Class of ‘13.

Running over ten weeks in and around The Yard’s warehouse home, the season showcases the work of emerging companies, "theatre-makers of tomorrow, doing great things today".

Jay Miller says: "The Yard goes from strength-to-strength. Class of ‘13 is our first curated festival. And we are thrilled to be working with such a talented bunch of artists, all of whom are making work that is inimitable.

"We will continue to explode our theatre, exploring why we come to sit together in a darkened room to listen and watch a story with a bunch of strangers. It's going to be extraordinary. I can't wait."

The programme includes part-play, part-gig, part-walking tour London’s Perverted Children by poet and playwright Siddhartha Bose, a factual and fantasy travelogue into England’s past Beneath the Albion Sky and Spank House, a darkly comic solo show about ‘boiler room’ embezzlement, as well as other productions and pieces in development.

Class of '13 closes with a devised work from Yard Artistic Associate Alex Rennie. This is Your Life uses music, movement, text and technology to look at a world in which sensory systems are under constant assault.

The Class of ‘13 season runs from 10 September to 16 November 2013. For further information and booking visit www.theyardtheatre.co.uk.
